The software is used for programming as well as the commissioning of logic relays of the easy 400/600 series from Moeller GmbH. It has been developed to run on a Windows CE based PocketPC with an ARM processor.

A serial AutoSync cable which is available as an accessory is required for the IPAQ. Various cables are required for the 36xx/37xx and 38xx/39xx devices as the sockets on the devices differ. With the 38xx/39xx devices, the USB/serial cable is called the AutoSync cable.

An adapter which you must fabricate yourself is required as the serial AutoSync cable and the PC-CAB cable of the easy are intended for direct connection to a PC! Two DSUB9 connectors and the respective enclosure can be purchased in an hobby electronics shop. It is essential to mark the connectors to indicate which side is for the PC-CAB and which side is for the Autosync cable. The cables are not intended for connection to the other side of the adapter and it should not be attempted!!!

The file format *.CEa >>

The file format is an extended *.eas file format of Easysoft versions V1.0 to V3.x. These files can be read without limitation after modification of the file extension »*.eas« to »*.CEa«. If the file however is resaved, it can only be read again by the »CEasy.exe«. The newest »*.e40« file format of the Easysoft V4.x cannot be processed.

The circuit-diagrams can only be exchanged here using an easy. The circuit-diagram is first of all transferred to an easy and then read back by the other PC. However, the comments are lost with this transfer. The comments can be loaded from another file with the »Easysoft.exe«, it is not possible with the »CEasy.exe« program.

The program package consists of three files. The actual program files are available in zipped form and are language independent. The language dependent files are available in an unzipped form. The respective language file (‚CEasyResX.dll’,X=language) is required to suit the respective language. Multiple language files are not allowed in the final target folder. (If more than one language files is in the folder, the first one which is found is used. In the worst case the software will appear in an unreadable format). If no language file is found, the software will not have a user shell.

How is the installation performed? In the first step, the program folder a Sub-folder called »CEasy« must be created in the »Programs« folder on the PocketPC. Then the unzipped program files »CEasy.exe« and »CE_Sio.dll«, are taken from the Zip file and copied into the newly generated folder. The required language file should also be copied into the folder. Then a further »CEasyPrograms« folder is created in the »My Documents« folder. All easy program files can be stored in this folder.

The second step defines the parameters for the serial interface. The »Interface« menu point should be in the »Settings« menu and the following parameters set for the interface:

Select COM1: (Serial) in the »Serial« section:
General: Baudrate: 4800
Parity: None
Data bits: 8
Stop bits: 1

Thereafter, the software is ready for use.
